I only stayed there for one night but it couldn't be more pleasant. Woke up in the morning with a beautiful meteora view at my window and in rings of church bells...Breakfast and dinner were delicious. Evi and her family are very hospitable and make you feel like home as soon as you step in.

“very nice, good price”
Rating: 5.0 / 5.0

The location is very good - in the center of the village (Kastraki), next to the road that goes up to the monasteries. The room was nice and clean, and thanks to the shade provided by the trees not very hot. You can use a kitchen if you like (maybe if you stay longer), but for 1 night we just go out in the center at a taverna. The price is very good for what it offers.

Stayed August 2011, traveled as a couple

The position of the villa is good, near the center of the village and right next to the road that goes up to the monasteries of Meteora. Service is good, rooms are clean and fine; good value for money.

“If you want to visit Meteora, stay here.”
Rating: 5.0 / 5.0

I stayed here as a solo traveller on the recommendation of two people I met on the bus bound for kalambaka. I hadn't decided if I was going to spend the night or try to make the last train to Athens that evening. As the bus ride wore on, I elected to spend the night in kastraki and keep the company of my bus mates.

I booked the room online from the bus in about 4 minutes via the hotels online site. The reservation included free wi-fi (which was also available in the rooms), parking (if one has a vehicle), and breakfast. Confirmation was immediately sent.

This is an old house which has been completely renovated. It is in fantastic shape, and is maintained and lived in by the owners(and their wonderful small family). Each room has either a balcony or a patio, full bathroom, access to a full kitchen (yes, that means fridge and freezer), air conditioning, tv, and of course, a spectacular view of meteora...being that the location is amongst the mountains.

Kalambaka is a pleasant 30 minute walk, however there is also a bus for those feeling less inclined or unable to enjoy the view from their feet. Upon returning, the place smelled wonderful. A fresh cake had been prepared in anticipation of breakfast in the morning, I was even offered a slice that night but declined.

The owners were extremely friendly, helpful, and quite knowledgeable of the area and paths to the meteora monasteries. I couldn't have asked to feel more welcome.

Breakfast was served at 8am, and consisted of tea, coffee, cheese, meat, bread, feta and tomato, and of course...home made cake. Breakfast was ample for a full day walk to all the monasteries (although my feet didn't agree).

To rebut a previous posters comment about religious aspects of the house, I mean no disrespect, but would you enter a church and ask them to take down the religious artifacts? There were some pictures of a religious nature, ( maybe one in my room) however, I felt it added a pleasant character to the house.

One tip I will suggest for online booking, is to make note of the meal plan. There was some confusion initially at check in about the meal plan for my bus mates because their print out didn't include it. The owner, of course offered to rectify the confusion, but please print out (or carry a digital image) of the plan included in your rate to avoid any confusion.

Over all, I would give the place 6/5 if possible...I was actually sad to go. Service accounts for a lot, but San giorgio villa has the whole package.

Nice large and clean rooms, some with a very nice terrace. A communal kitchen area is available and useful. Good location close to Meteora. Staff were very helpful when our airconditioning didn't work, we were transferred to another room without problem.
